I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and the Club to you.
My name is Linda Bias and I am very proud to be the second female commodore in LIYC history. In addition, I am the manager of the Club’s growing Swim Team which is entering its third year of competition. I have worked very hard to bring back this team after a 25 year hiatus and it is going beautifully. Being a member of this club brings me a lot of joy and fills me with pride.
The Long Island Yacht Club is a member owned and operated facility. Everyone who belongs to the Club is responsible for making it such a wonderful place to pass the time.
We have a boat basin where members can keep their vessels ranging up to a yacht of 60 feet. Also, there is a small beach where personal watercraft and small trailered boats can be launched. Both areas overlook the breathtaking Great South Bay on one side and the serene beautifully landscaped Clubhouse on the other. Obviously, its location makes it a favorite spot for get togethers.
The main clubhouse is a large renovated Georgian mansion. Inside this historical landmark are a banquet hall that seats up to 80 people, a kitchen, a library, a sunroom with a large screen television and many working fire places (which add to the cozy atmosphere.) There are also two bars within the club that are very popular gathering spots .On Sundays tennis matches are held on the courts outside the clubhouse and can be watched from within.
In addition, we have many other attractions to fill your time at the Club. An Olympic sized pool and toddler wading pool will help you keep cool during the hot summer months. The bathhouse is conveniently located next to the pool deck. The fully staffed Snack Bar and Tiki Bar are surrounded by patio tables just outside the pool area. Everything you need for a relaxing summer day is right at your fingertips.
The variety of activities and events at the LIYC are unsurpassed by any other club in the New York Area! Boating, sailing, swimming, and tennis are just the tip of the iceberg. We have many kids day events throughout the year, as well as, dances, barbeques and themed parties for all.
As with any club, the members make the experience enjoyable and worth while. During this 50th year of the Club, won’t you come and be a part of our family?
