I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and the Long Island Yacht Club to you. My name is Anne Marie Bode and I am happy to be the 2010 Commodore of the LIYC.
The Long Island Yacht Club has been a member owned and operated facility for over 50 years, since its inception in 1957. Everyone who belongs to the Club is responsible for making it such a wonderful place to enjoy family and friends.
Our main clubhouse is a large renovated Georgian mansion. Inside this historical landmark is a banquet hall that seats up to 80 people, a kitchen, a library, a sunroom with a large screen television and many working fireplaces which add to the cozy atmosphere on cold winter days and nights. We have two bars within the club that are very popular gathering spots, as well as a seasonal Tiki Bar for al fresco refreshments.
We have a boat basin where members can keep their vessels ranging up to a yacht of 60 feet. Also, there is a small beach where personal watercraft and small trailered boats can be launched. Both areas overlook the breathtaking Great South Bay on one side and the serene beautifully landscaped Clubhouse on the other. Obviously, its location makes it a favorite spot for get togethers.
In addition, we have many other attractions to fill your time at the Club. Our newly renovated Olympic sized pool and toddler wading pool will help you keep cool during the hot summer months. During the summer season we have our LIYC Swim Team; we practice daily and compete with local clubs. We host swim meets and travel to others. It is fun and exciting for children, parents, grandparents, and members alike!
We offer sailing lessons for beginners, intermediate, and advanced sailors; and compete in local regattas. We also offer tennis lessons for young and old alike on our3 tennis courts.
Our bathhouse is conveniently located next to the pool deck. The newly renovated and fully staffed Snack Bar and Tiki Bar are surrounded by patio tables just outside the pool area. Whether you come for the day, lunch, a quick dinner, or an informal business meeting, everything you need for a relaxing summer day is right at your fingertips.
The variety of activities and events at the LIYC are unsurpassed by any other club in the New York Area! Boating, sailing, swimming, and tennis are just the tip of the iceberg. We have many kid’s day events throughout the year, as well as, dances, barbeques and themed parties for all.
As with any club, the members make the experience enjoyable and worthwhile. During this 53rd year of the Club, won’t you come and experience the fun and camaraderie at the LIYC?
The LIYC offers a number of membership levels suitable for all needs. If you are interested in becoming a member or have questions about our Club, Please send us an email or call our office for an appointment.
